......but more trouble than necessary and could have disasterous consequences. It would be interesting to try this with suspected illegally obtained wild-caught adults which may likely never breed in captivity due to the stress of adjusting to captivity after capture, or in other words: long-term captive adult gilas that won't breed after years of trying. The Houston, TX latitude and climate ought to work just fine.
