I have never had that problem with Black Knight although I have only used it once (it completely eradicated the problem forever). I did use it in the cage of a neonate Mexican Hognose and some neonate House Snakes with no problem, but I only gave a quick puff into their containers and not onto the snakes. You don't have to spray much of it and you really don't have to get it directly on the snakes themselves.
