There is a process in genetics, that I believe is called reversion when a mutant gene spontaneously reverts to the wildtype, it's rare, just as rare as spontaneous mutations. I think it's called revesion, but it does happen and that's probably what's happened in your normal corn. I wouldn't say he was a het though, because he may not be, but all he needs is just one allele to revert and he'll be wild type, so he may be het as the other allele may not have reverted, but to be safe, keep him as normal.
