Help!! What kind of snake is this?

We found a snake in our backyard and would like to know if someone could help in identifying it. I believe it's a corn snake, but I could be wrong.
The snake is a little under 2ft, dark gray w/black saddles. It's very docile. As in, it did not strike out when we placed into an old fish tank we have. We saved it from being attacked by a couple of dogs.
