I forgot to answer your other questions. Yes, they are harmless. No, you DO NOT want to get rid of them. They'll eat all the small bugs around your house. Would you rather have COOL lizards or SCARY spiders in and around your house? I'd rather have lizards (geckos in this case). They won't and can't hurt your children. They are nocturnal, so your small children will most likely be in bed while the geckos are active.
