:Myself along with several other herpers in the area release locals back into the pops, with outstanding success. I know of certain keepers who can go back and find canes and coppers in areas where they have released and monitor there snakes every year. THe results have been outstanding, we are now seeing animals released back into the wild that are now gravid and producing more offspring.

Glad to hear it, and I hope good precautions are being taken to avoid disease transmission to local populations, specifically quarantine from any kind of introduced or exotic herps.

I'd be quite interested in seeing some more data from the project - is anybody PIT tagging? If not, could you please encourage them to start doing so? The data from successful releases is very important to share! That way more people can feel confident doing the same thing, though again I hope they will be doing it in a way that is safe for the wild populations.

Thanks,

TT
