His substrate is sifted and washed play sand. It may have been a lentil or a part of the exoskeleton of a beetle I fed him around the last time he deficated. I will stick to crickets and vegetable matter from now on...

In probing his abdomen, I have located a hard spot about the size of a small pea. I have tried to gently "crush it up" with my fingers but it won't disintegrate. He is obviously sick, but definitely not near death. I'm continuting with the baths and mineral oil, so we'll see. He does drink a little when first put in the bath, so I'm optimistic that he'll pass the impaction.

If he wasn't such an extraordinarily friendly and social lizard I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. Of all of my Uros, he is my favorite.
