:Bill,

:I actually hunt from Freer southwest towards regions like Aguilares, etc. Mostly I roadhunt (morning and night) and turn trash along the roadside where I find it accessible. Most of the stuff on that list (except the softshell, the alligator, the green toad and the geckoes) was found on the road.

:A lot of people don't take the time to hunt the quiet roads in the morning. That's the best time for things like Indigos, Tortoises, Hognose, Bullsnakes, etc.

:South Texas is good starting in around March and stays good until around Halloween. You can find herps all year, but you see more at those times. Spring and summer rains are good and september can be a productive month.

Thanks for the advise. Do you live in South Texas? Maybe we'll run into each other one day.
Have you ever had problems with locals / landowners? Don't really like people shooting shotguns over my head to get my attention...
