:>Do you live in South Texas?

:No, I currently live in College Station. I used to go down to S. TX several times a year herping. Haven't been down there in a few years.

:>Have you ever had problems with locals / landowners? Don't really like people shooting shotguns over my head to get my attention...

:Shouldn't have to worry about that, down in S. TX they use deer rifles, and they probably wouldn't bother trying to shoot over your head! ;-)

:Actually, just don't trespass or try asking for permission to catch herps (sometimes they say "Sure, get them #@#$ snakes off my property!").

Thanks for your help & advice. Deer rifles are a little more frightening but - I can see why it would be more appropriate - i saw 3 DOR deer in that area during my last trip.
It would be neat seeing some of the herps you listed _ I would love to see a Tx tortoise & reticulated collared lizard & several of the other s you listed.
