by north texas are you referring to actual north such as the panhandle(Amarillo and such areas) or around the Dallas area as some people call that North Texas. AS far as far north, such as Amarillo, great plains skinks could possibly fit the description. Smaller ones do have diff coloration that could be blue in theory. The adults can reach 12-13 inches. If you are talking about Dallas, then what you say was probably a juvenile five lined skink. Good luck! Andy
