: I wasn't implying you were collecting, just that the simple act of looking for herps to photograph or just to observe can be taken the wrong way by folks conditioned to seeing people smuggling snakes!

: I can't offer much help, not having been there in a while, but check the weather--historically, this is a good time of year because the Chihuahuan Desert gets more of its precipitation in the summer than do the other American deserts.
