Gators in Texas are protected and you may only keep one if you have a state issued rehab permit.
: It really depends on what city and county laws are in place in regards to crocodilians.
: You may not be able to get a permit, they may be flat out against the law in some cities.
: You may want to contact you local animal control office, or post in the crocodilian forum, but include what city you are in.
: I cant remember if Alligators are still protected in Texas. You may want to check out Field guide to reptiles and the law for reference.
