Newts in Fort Worth?

I recently moved to Fort Worth and there are lots of little newt-like critters that come out at night and are on the front of my house. They are probably 2-4 inches long, kind of opaque light beige skin with a touch of pink, the tail seems to be lightly striped.
The closest river is several miles away. I do not know anything about amphibians. Does anyone know what these are? They have very black eyes that you can almost see through their light skin. Please email me at captainbanzai@webtv.net if you can give me any info. on these critters. Thanks, Rob
