shedding of skins

hi i had 3 painted turtles at home .
i just bought them from a reptile shop and after a few days i notice that the skin around their limbs started to turn pale and seem to be coming off. It do seem a little like some kinds of skin problem which i dun think so.
I also notice the turtles sometimes biting at their own limbs. Is it normal ??
