I don't think the vet ruled out the most obvious probable cause of this frog's change in behavior. Parasites. A wild caught animal will usually have parasites, and the effects of an heavy infestation may not always be immediately observable. I strongly urge you to collect a fresh fecal sample and get it to the vet for testing. A simple, safe oral drug may be all it needs to save its life.
