By saying you know some people who have jept mixed tanks going for years is stikingly similar to the teenage response to smoking, 'if its so bad, than how come my grandpa, who's 85 and smoked all his life has never had a problem'. Hopefully this doesn't need to be explained.

Really, it is my oppinion that if you are asking about mixed tanks, then you are too inexperienced to make them actually work. Use a little unbiased common sense, think about how much an animals life means to you, and make your decision.
