I separated this tadpole off last week because he had developed back and front legs.
He was in his own tank with about 2 1/2" of water and an island in the middle where he could climb out when he wanted to. He had branches and rocks in there to help him climb out also.
He hadn't been eating for the past few days but I wasn't concerned because his tail was shrinking. Yesterday it had shrunk about 1/4 of what it was.
Yesterday I changed his water with dechlorinated water because it needed changing.
This morning the little guy was upside down on the bottom, dead.
What have I done wrong?
The tank wasn't aereated because he was the only one in there and I thought he didn't need it. I had two fish in a tank the same size and they did't need it. Do morphs?
At what exact stage do their gills close and they use their lungs? When their tail has gone? When they are losing their tail?
Maybe he couldn't get out and he drown? Maybe he starved even though there was food in there?
Any one shed some light on this for me because I am quite upset and I have 10 other taddies to go through this and I don't want to stuff up again.
