I had a pair for a number of years but they never reproduced (though I bred T. hermanni yearly in the same yard). The male would bash the female around each spring and they would mate but I never got fertile eggs. She was around 9 inches and never really grew that much. He was much smaller.
They were kept outdoors year 'round in South Florida and would only be brought inside if we had extended periods of heavy rain.
After a few years they went to a friend who did get eggs but they didn't hatch. Good tortoises but I have no idea what subspecies they were.
