Yellowfoots, like redfoots like to be kept humid. This will help keep them from getting that 'dried out' look that they can get when kept indoors or in very dry climate. As far as oils etc for bringing out their color I avoid such things. If kept humid enough they will look fine. Of course, when taking pictures it doesn't hurt to clean them up a bit and moisten the shell to bring out the color/pattern. I just use water for this.
Feeding? Let them eat as much as they want as long as the food is of good quality and is fresh. I like to skip one day out of the week for adult tortoises. Watch your weather though! If you see that it is going to be cool in a day or two back off on your feeding. This helps keep your tortoise from having a gut full of food that it can't digest due to the cooler temps.
Can't help on what to keep them on as I keep mine outside with grass or cypress mulch as ground cover.
