I've had good luck getting animals to convert to the foods I want them to eat.

I doubt there is anything magical about cubed hay vs regular, it's just that the cubes carry more hay in less space, and I can just tear off a chunk and break it up into the Mazuri instead of taking regular hay and chopping it up.

Start slow and small - a tiny bit of hay completely hidden in the mazuri.

Then more ... and more ...
