I noticed one of my russian females trying to dig under a clump of grass in her outdoor pen today.

Of course she was digging in an area of tough sod and clay instead of the pile of sand and dirt I supplied.

After awhile she gave up and walked away. I thought it was just a trial nest so I picked her up and noticed there was an egg just barely out of her vent.

I quickly dug a hole in the dirt pile and placed her there. In short order 3 eggs came out and she walked away without covering them. She then ate some weeds and went to her hidebox. I checked on her later and there was one egg on the brick floor of the hidebox. This last egg was noticeably smaller.

All eggs are now incubating. I have my doubts about these eggs. It seems she didn't know what she was doing.

I had one hatchling last year. The female who produced the hatchling has yet to lay.
