:It's good to hear that he's developed a taste for mice. How did you get him started eatting them? (I remember you saying he didn't like them awhile ago). One of mine doesn't like them very much either he eats only 2 weanlings (size before large adults) a day but he'll eat allot more of the other stuff I feed him after that. My other one loves them at 10 a day plus other stuff. I'm going to switch to large mice after I finish off my last doz or so weanlings, I'll tell you how much he eats then. 6 a day sounds good to me he must be growing fast! If he started looking really fat you might want to feed more fruit instead of mice.

Ya know Rollin, after he woke up from his winter nap and I ordered fresh mice, he's eating me out of house and home. He's growing so fast I can't believe it. I ordered mice again and this time I went with the jumbo size. The chicks he eats are close to twice the size of the mice. Now, my other tegu that hybernated for 8 months. (he was on a different time zone) doesn't eat nearly as much and of course is smaller. The good thing is he doesn't run and hide when I look at him now. I actually got him out of his cage Sunday. Of course I had to use gloves and he hissed and spit at me but I was able to get him out and put him in the tub for a good soak. Amazing how strong these guys are. I was hoping the smaller one was a female but from the looks of the jowls its a feller.
Take care,
Karen
