I just got a baby arg. red also (see post below). I don't know about them being like cats - that would be great, but I have read and been told that reds tend to be the most docile. In my post below I mention how mine is shy, but I just got him, so I will give him some time. Yes, the reds do need fruit in their diet. Stomach contents of those in the wild contained seeds. Go check out bluetegu.com. Mine likes red grapes and mangos. Try to get him eating fruits young; I've read it's harder to later. I cut my grapes in half so he would smell the juices and it worked. Let me know how he comes along, I'm still new to mine also. I'll be sure to post any other fruits mine starts to eat.

:Hi, I just got a new baby argentine red tegu and I have a few questions. I read that B/W from the same area are really tame and they act like cats by jumping up on you lap and being very attentive. Is that true and if so are the reds like that too. The other question is do they have to have fruit included in their diet? I have offered my red grapes (red and green), apples, plums, and strawberries. He has not been interested in anything other that crickets.
