I think I might have a brother of yours! I'd like to see a pic, I've posted a few of mine down the forum a bit. He didn't hybernate as long as your though only 4 months er so. You're right, he'll settle down as he gets bigger. The more he sees you around the more he'll get used to you to. It's nice if you can have the cage by where everyone hangs out.
Have you put superworms in the bowl, that's what I do, they only get out when the tegus fling them around when they're eating. Try putting some food on half of a paper plate, Maybe he doesn't like the bowl how it's slippery. Do you mean he ate a pinky and some banana, turkey, and apple in one day? He should be eating about 3 pinkys worth of food or more every day. Has he ever went more then a day or 2 without eating?
