They can get very large. If you hibernate them they grow more slowly...if not...they grow to full size within 18 months. Some tegus can reach 4 1/2 - 5 feet.
:and dot he red and blue tegus get any bigger than the black and whaites. what ones will have the best temperment? which will i be able to handle more?
Argentine b & w are personable as are reds....I have heard dwarfs can be challenging, and I know of quite a few nasty columbians. On Agama's site they have comparative photos for columbian and arg tegus if your interested.
