I've always wanted to put some plants in the cage but I don't know how long they'd last, the tegus might dig them up. Some people like Bert keep their tegus out side year around so if you got good climate there I'm sure they'd do fine. That'd be cool to go pick the one you wanted, males would probably be the bigger ones. The females don't get quite as big as males at maturity. Actually it's the females that can become aggressive during breeding season, or maybe it's when they lay eggs..
