I am curious as to the proper genus of the North American turtles commonly refered to as "Sliders" (scripta). The Peterson field guide, Western Reptiles and Amphibians by Robert C. Stebbins, places them under (Pseudemys), while the Peterson field guide, Reptiles and Amphibians of Eastern/Central North America by Roger Conant and Joseph T. Collins, places them under the genus (Trachemys). In addition, The Audubon Society's Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians by Alfred A Knopf, places them under the genus (Chrysmys). Can anyone please enlighten me on this subject?
