I assume that the title "Standard Common and Current Scientific Names for North American Amphibians and Reptiles", which has been chaired by the same individual since 1978, and has utilized the same methodology since 1990, would constitute a series. Perhaps, you give to much weight to a mere change of publishers.
As for the genesis of CNAH (1994), it predates even the last edition of the SSAR names list under the title "Standard Common..." (1997). Not to mention, the most recent List, as chaired by BI Crother, for which, I was happy to contribute my expertise.
