When Can I tell Spikys Sex?

I have a spikey SS and i bout him as a baby about 6 months ago, since then, he's grown to about twice the size he was, How soon can i tell if it's a boy or a girl, his tail seems kinda fat at the base, so i'm hoping it's a boy. Is it too soon to tell sex?
