I would go with John. If you can speak with him over the phone, he will be glad to answer all your ali'snap inquiry.
I myself would probably go for a yearling at the youngest/smallest. Hatchlings tend to be more fragile in my opinion.
Kinda ironic that a silver dollar size turtle will become North America's heavy weight bruiser.
Just to let you know, these guys aren't as active as your commons and RES. They tend to hide alot. But there cool to watch though, especially when their fishing!
