I have been interested in purchasing a Northern Blue Tongue but there are a few questions I have that no one has gave me the same answer on(which is to be expected, except each answer varies so much).
My first is what is the recommended tank size for a single adult male?
I've emailed a few breeders, talked to local pet shops and some local owners of this skink type and I have answers ranging from a 25 gallon tank to a 75 gallon.Any suggestions on this?
Next question is how often do they need to be fed?
Most everyone has told me the juveniles are to be fed each day.The adult feedings are what vary. Most breeders told me every 3 days, owners told me every 4 or 5 or if they act hungry before that and the petshop told me daily. What would be the ideal number of feedings?
My last question has to deal with their diet.Everyone I've talked to for most part has told me their diet should be about 60% plant material,40% meat.Though when talking about diets one breeder and one owner told me to never feed them fish, but the rest of the breeders owners and petshop told me fish is a part of their NBT's diet and there are no ill effects they have found.
Is fish healthy or unhealthy for NBT's and if it is unhealthy why is it unhealthy? What is the ill effect on the NBT?
