The importation of Reptiles & Amphibians from overseas into the US, and from the US to overseas is regulated and controlled by US Fish & Wildlife. There are no quarantine requirements for Reptiles of Amphibians. USDA has no authority over Reptiles and Amphibians for the importation process.
:I have a few questions about importing and quarantine:
:I know mammals have to stay in AHPIS quarantine facilites when being imported from overseas but do reptiles/amphibians? I thought the USDA had no control over reptiles whatsoever. Is there some other agency involved with the importation of cold blooded animals from overseas?
:If reptiles do have to be quarantined, what are the facilities like? Do they staff reptile experts? And how long are the quarantine periods?
:Thanks,
