First off, in order to have a society, you guys need to not only show up, but become members. Second, Steve (and myself) started as private herps and still keep and breed private herps - there is no way the society will become professionals only or anything like that. Zoos also buy mostly captive bred stock, unless they're rarer creatures - then they buy WC and once they start producing them, other zoos take them. Private herpers are doing a great job breeding stuff, but thats definitely not conservation. I agree that it does take some pressure off wild stuff, but wild stuff is still being collected - more than ever before. This business about people saving the wild cause they breed stuff at home is crazy - none of that stuff will ever be reintroduced. If you want to save animals, save the habitat and support organizations that buy habitat and actually reintroduce animals (like those zoos you mentioned). Anyways, we would like to see you guys at the meetings. Take care,
Jeff
