I dont know the current laws re: rattlesnakes. You can check with Curt Steindler over at SWHS (swhs.org); I think his number is listed over there.

Over at www.baskingspot.com, if you scroll to the bottom, there's a link to the newslinks archive; you may find some articles (search for string "CA:") re: herp removal.

You may want to contact your local animal control officer. You can also just contact the fire chief.
