:Hi everybody...I'm moving to California from Pennsylvania in the fall to attend UCLA. Where are the most reptile-friendly communities in the West LA area? I have 2 savannah monitors and a ball python. Are there any legal issues or problems I should know about? Any other monitor keepers out there?

Hee! I went to CSULB :D What ya studying at UCLA?

I think West LA falls out Los Angeles City jurisdiction (for example, areas like Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Brentwood); you're supposed to get a yearly permit (per herp) but I'm not certain how strictly that is enforced. I have heard of herpers being fined for not having their permit while down in Venice Beach.

I live in Redondo Beach, which is under LA County jurisdiction. At one point in time I checked the local city ordinances and I think the only prob was with large boids, but I dont remember for certain.

Drop me an email!
Des.
