I don't think a heat rock is a good idea for KSB at all. I didn't know spot lights didn't work, 'cause that's what I've been using to knock my temps up a few degrees on some of my cages. But if it doesn't work for you I understand. The heat pad is only hitting 80 on the bottom of the tank? That's where the snake will be, not at the top of the substrate.
