Well the 75 watt heat lamp (clamp) I was looking at was $22.00CDN at home hardware, and the light its self is $10.00CDN. So if I bought 2 for both my tanks it would be roughly $70CDN. So I am trying to say away from lamps. The temperature is 70 and I like it at 75 -77 so I only need a few degrees. I am afraid that a heat lamp might be too hot for them. My room is the same temperature, but winter is coming so it might get warmer when we turn the heat on.
As for your question on cooling them down, I mist their terrarium with slightly cold water (trying not to hit the reptile) 2 or 3 times a day, and I close all my blinds so no light can heat them up.
I am not sure if this will work for your reptile though because they need heat and are dessert lizards, I believe? and misting them might not be that good. Don't quote me on that though. Where mine is a room temperature gecko and lives in the rainforest so water is okay.
