I have horn lizards that need a basking area of 100F and all I did to get them heat was go to the hardware store and buy a clamp lamp for about $7.00 US and put a 100-watt bulb in it. Now you do have to make sure the lamp itself is rated for the wattage bulb you want to use, just read the inside for the max wattage allowed. To attach it on the screen, I slid a piece of coat hanger under the tank and attached the clamp lamp to it. Ok it ain’t pretty but it works and it is cheap.

I am not sure if the amount of heat produced changes when you use a red bulb. Also what is the temp of the room they are in?

I hope that helps with your problem. Maybe you can help with mine how do you cool them down? It is still hot here in Florida.
