What specifically was happening to the bulbs? I've gone through quite a few bulbs in the past month or so, mostly due to my own stupidity. For example, while the light was on, I decided to spray the enclosure down, and the bulb got wet resulting in it exploding and me having to change my pants. The gecko was ok, but I just boxed up the remnants, went to the store, and asked for a replacement. Usually, they'll give you the replacement partially because the have no idea what to do, and partially because they don't seem to care. I've had other bulbs just simply stop working and have returned those too.
That's my take on it, if you're paying $6 for a bulb, and it breaks within days, you deserve another.
Good Luck, and make sure that you look confident when you ask for a refund or a new bulb.
