I use the zoo-med or t-rex (can't remember which) red bulb. In MY expriance Flukers just isn't that great of a product producer (that's just my experiance). I would look around for other bulbs until you find one you like. I have used the $1 25 watt red bulbs you can pick up in a lot of places, but only for night time room lighting (so I can work if I need to after the light timers shut off), 25 watts wouldn't be warm enough to heat the cage properly, but if you can find a red bulb with higher watts it should work fine.
