:I want to breed my male crested gecko in Spring.
:I'm not sure if I should even start in the Spring (I'm having second thoughts). My crested male is about 6 months now. I really want to start breeding in Spring (excited), though maybe I should wait at least another year or two. What should I do if I decide to start breeding and then after a year or so I want to stop. Will I have to separate them. Which is something I don't really want to do. I know I can drop the temperature, but how long can it really stay like that, it can't be very good for them to pass the 5 month mark? Plus I will have to find some sort of way to cool the terrarium. Any ideas?
:Should I get my female now and have her for a year or two and then breed? or start looking in a year?
:'Female crested geckos are hard to come by too.'

:Say I do get a female now and start breeding in spring.
:Would it be bad for the pair if I put her in his cage for 4 months and then took her out...and so on? Will it be stressful?

:I kind of just want some personal opinions, advice or experiences others have had.
:Thanks for your help!

Your male will be ready to breed in the spring. You should look for a female now, your male may already be ready. Cresteds are able to breed at about 6 - 12 months of age. I keep my male with the females year round. If you have a male which will never leave your female alone, you may have to seperate them for awhile. Your right, definate females are more expensive, but it will be worth it in the long run. Make sure that the female is young (about a year old) not a burned out breeder. They will breed often and making your money back will not be a problem. Try to gain as much info as possible on incubation techniques before you get eggs.
Good luck
David
