Although I really don't think there's any camera flash that could make a red, brown, yellow, orange, etc, gecko appear blue. I can see how people could use special photography and or lighting to make a moderately bluish animal appear VERY BLUE.
I don't understand why people would possibly want to misrepresent their animals like that, distorting the genuine color. Let alone why Reptiles magazine would be ok with that. It reminds me of an old Vivarium issue that had a picture of a group of Bush Vipers (Atheris squamiger), the animals in the picture were a rich, metallic looking, blue and red and purple.
Very distorted and enhanced colors, not an honest example of what Bush Vipers look like.
Neither Bush Vipers nor Crested Geckos need enhancement, natures made them attractive enough to begin with.
