Liz,
It does not matter if he is aggressive with you are not. We have a few animals that are little teddy bears with us but hate anyone of their own species. Who knows why they act like they do. Could be genetics, past events, environmental issues, or just their personalities. I am sure he “knows” what to do, he is just a grumpy and mean to his fellow geckos.
