Crestie problems!! Please Help!!!

Hi all,
I recently bought two crested that had obviously been living together (two males). I put them into seperate tanks immediately when I got home but one is significantly smaller and was much thinner. His tale was also in bad shape, kinda scummy looking and covered in stuff. Is there anything I can do for him other than make sure he's eating and stuff. maybe clean his tail somehow.

Also does anyone know the average captive crestie lifespan?
