The trouble with 'dead' bugs in fruit is that it makes the whole concoction spoil in hours, so you have to make sure you remove it on time.

You could however, use live critters mixed into the fruit - fruit fly maggots.
A few years ago I had someone bring me a juvie crested gecko that needed some TLC. At about 8 months old, he was smaller than a 3 month old crestie. His former owner didn't know beans about how to care for them, so he was malnourished, and didn't even try hunting. I put fruit fly maggots into his fruit to get him some extra protein, since he wasn't about to touch any live food (seems the owner thought he could live on applesauce and half inch hissing roaches, so he was petrified of bugs).
