Hello,

I believe that R. ciliatus can be accurately sexed around 15 grams. With the difference in husbandry techniques (feeding, supplementation, etc.)among crested breeders, I think that the actual age of a 15 gram crested can be rather variable. I find it hard to believe that one would not be able to determine the sex of a crested before a year. 15 gram cresteds in my collection are around 4 months old, and I will guarantee females at this age. I haven't been wrong yet (knock on cork bark), but I do think that it can be a little tricky to accurately sex females before this particular weight. Males can be distinguised at such an young age (10 grams) due to the noticeable separation of gonads.
