Hi Marty,
I recomend a very simple cage setup first. Papertowel substrate, one piece of climbing material, water dish and a hide box.
Once you feed him you will know if he has eaten by either seeing his droppings or seeing less crickets. If you have a naturalistic setup it will be very hard to determine if the crickets have been eaten or are just hiding. So i highly recomend the simplistic setup. Hope this helps.
