spots on shell

I have three red eared sliders. they love to bask. My heat lamp has burned out so their basking spot is probably room temperature. One of my turtles has some whit spots on his shell. they look like dried shell to me like he is shedding. the color and look is like shedding skin. or how someones fingernails look with psyrosis. there are several one on every hump of his shell in the corner like it is a uniform thing that is why I am thinking shedding. any info would be appreciated.
