In Jan-Feb my turtle's arm wound was healing (vet visit,3 syringes of antibiotics, short betadine soaks and mandatory basking after applying nolvasan)...as he was healing he bit his arm several times (and wouldn't let go!) ...it was horrible...the vet told me that he would do that just as humans would pick at a scab...my turtle would hold onto his arm and I could tell that he had 2nd thoughts like "this really hurts" he would try to pull his head into his shell even...I would pick him up out of the water and he would let go of his arm...his arm has healed but his skin color in that area isn't the exact same color yet :( ...be sure that your water quality is excellent and that your turtle's skin is not furry or bleeding otherwise it can get seriously infected take it to the vet because I'm sure that turtle's can get skin diseases

:Mine does that once and a while too.. I think it's just an itch. If yours persists, and actually hurts it's self (some I've heard would do that) I'd look in to it then.
