i by no means am an expert and i've just had my baby RES for not quite a month, but...one of mine totally does this as well. He eats fine, poops fine, looks fine, just always hangs out in the corner with the plants. What i have discovered though through some stealth investigation is that he's just very skitish. He hears me coming into the room whether through sound or vibrations or something and instantly hides in the corner. So, i know that when i'm gone or at work he's basking and swimming. He's actually starting to come out a little more even when i'm here. i don't completely know why he does this. I wonder too if it was just the seasons maybe too? But, i would say that if he's eating fine, looks healthy and if your tank is a good set up, ie, temp, clean, water integrity, etc...that he's fine and just a little bit quieter than some. Give him some time, i bet he'll come out of his shell (ha ha pun, i'm a dork, hehe) especially once he associates you with food :)
